Riaaz’s career journey has been shaped by his commitment to staying flexible and agile in response to market and client needs. Starting in Internal Audit, he quickly recognized the growing importance of IT Audit knowledge and earned his CISA certification, which led him to transition into Technology Risk. With both CIA and CISA certifications under his belt, he plans to continue evolving by obtaining a cybersecurity certification to meet current market demands.
His higher purpose as a BRS Leader is rooted in his passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing junior team members. He finds great fulfilment in seeing his mentees excel in their careers and personal lives, making this his personal mission and a core part of his identity.
Riaaz has a deep passion for travel, which began during his extensive travels as a junior auditor. He believes that traveling broadens perspectives, exposes him to different cultures, and instills a greater appreciation for what he has.
He is humbled by the firm's investment in him and the opportunity to lead at SNG Grant Thornton. He sees his role as a leader as an opportunity to make a difference, starting with his greatest asset—the people—followed by clients and other stakeholders. He is fully committed to leading and living by the CLEARR values, considering this a non-negotiable aspect of his leadership.
Riaaz would advise his younger self that the right attitude is crucial for success in both personal and professional life. He emphasizes that success isn't achieved overnight—it requires hard work, dedication, and the support of those around you.
